Why health family insurance in USA really important

While still living in Indonesia, not many are aware of how important to have health insurance. To be honest, the reason  bought Cigna health insurance policy because of calling an insurance agent tireless for several weeks. I had become Cigna insurance customers starting in 2010-2014. During the treatment costs to hospitals and doctors are all borne by the company where I work. So that I practically never use the insurance I have it.

I just realized if insurance is important after moving to the United States (US). Starting from the car, rented apartment, home, health, and even pets also have insurance. According to the husband, every person who has a vehicle is required to have insurance. This was proven when to local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Key West, Florida, to accompany her husband takes care of the registration displacement inter-state, the first thing requested by the officer is vehicle insurance.

After marriage, the husband who is a member of the US military, I enrolled as dependents and automatically inserted into the military healthcare, TRICARE - husband choose TRICARE PRIME program for me-. Not only that, I also registered specifically for dental insurance special programs through the TRICARE military families managed by MetLife. My husband paid around 11 USD per month and I get the service without pay in the form of radiology and complete examination by a dentist, two visits cleans teeth, and dental fillings. If more than offered by the insurance holder must pay for itself, or known as out-of-pocket.

After inspected and undergo radiological and full examination by a dentist, I was diagnosed with inflammation of the gums. I am surprised. Because I feel my teeth are fine, never experienced a toothache, or a matter of mouth. The doctor asked me if I was diligent flossing, honestly I say, although I rarely diligent brushing and mouthwash, and visit the dentist at least once a year.

Flossing is not a common practice in Indonesia. However, it turns out without flossing can make gum problems. Long story short, I then scheduled to run a full treatment for a year. This means costs incurred bigger husband. Fortunately, most of the costs were covered by insurance.

For comparison, one-time special visit to clean teeth around 200 USD or USD 2.4 million. I've run at least twice special care to clean the teeth. This does not include radiology and full examination by a dentist who is certainly more expensive. However, all costs were paid for by insurers.

Can you imagine how much it costs to be incurred by my husband if it does not have insurance for dental program for me. A friend who I know claim to have to spend as much as $ 2,000 (USD 24 million) for dental husband already at a very severe condition. This new gear, imagine if you have events such as accidents, about to give birth and take operating costs, and so on.

The cost of healthcare in the US is very expensive. Therefore, insurance companies see this as a condition of the gold fields. As reported by the New York Times, the number of Americans without health insurance has decreased, especially after Obamacare or Affordable Care Act to extend the enrollment (registration) for millions of people without insurance in January.

The number of Americans without insurance fell by 8 percent to 41 million figure in the first quarter of this year than in 2013, this decline to 3.8 million people and in accordance with what is expected by experts. With Obamacare, every company is required to provide insurance services to the workers and all US citizens are required to have insurance. If not, then for those who do not provide insurance for workers or people who do not have insurance will be fined.
